Minister of Communications Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has issued an apology following an altercation with journalists when they were covering a protest action during the ANC provincial rally in Mount Frere in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.

JOHANNESBURG - Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams said on Wednesday she took full responsibility for preventing the media from reporting on a protest during the ANC's manifesto launch in the Eastern Cape over the weekend.
Ndabeni-Abrahams attempted to block a video journalist from capturing visuals of a group of ANC supporters expressing their grievances with regard to service delivery.

The South African National Editors' Forum (Sanef) says it held a "very open" and constructive meeting with Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams following an incident in which she blocked journalists from covering the ANC manifesto launc...
Journalists from the South African National Corporation (SABC) and other media houses were among those blocked from reporting on the incident.
"Given the minister’s high profile portfolio relating in particular to the SABC, we would like to have an urgent meeting with her to discuss the matter and our concerns," Sanef said in a statement.
The launch in KwaBhaca, Mount Frere was disrupted just as ANC Treasurer-General Paul Mashatile was about to speak, by singing demonstrators allegedly frustrated by a lack of service delivery in their area.
Sanef says it welcomes Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams's apology for her behaviour and her admission that it's brought her office into disrepute.
The ANC launched its second provincial manifesto in their Alfred Nzo region at Badibanise stadium in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
